We believe innovation and technology are the keys to our success and you can see this through out our company. At our Long Lake oil sands project we are using a unique strategy. We've taken conventional technologies communly used around the world and uniquely configured them. As a result, we have a patented process that will produce higher-quality synthetic crude at much lower operating costs than other oil sands projects. Elsewhere in Canada, we are testing several enhanced heavy oil recovery techniques.

Implementing deep-water TECHNOLOGY in the mid- 1990s enabled us to grow our position in the Gulf of Mexico. Now, we are applying our experience to our deep-water projects offshore West Africa. It's a competitive industry out there and our innovate thinking - big and small - gives us an edge.

We’re also known for INNOVATION in our safety and environmental practices. We were the first to implement Responsible Care™, a global initiative developed by the chemical industry, into our Canadian oil and gas facilities in 2002, and then extended this program into our Yemen operations. Continuous and shared learning models, coupled with KNOWLEDGE transfer management, are part of our culture, which fosters and rewards innovation.
