“We are pleased to have been recognized as one of Canada’s top employers, by the Media Corp national employee survey.” says Catherine Hughes, Vice President, Operational Services, Technology and Human Resources. “This award recognizes the value of our many programs and benefits that make Nexen a great place to work.”

Canada’s Top 100 Employers is a national competition that assesses and ranks the country’s top employers that lead their industries in attracting and retaining employees. The competition focuses on eight key areas: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social events; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications focused on how employers capture feedback from their employees; performance management; training and skills development; community involvement. Nexen received six out of eight grade A’s within these categories, including three A+’s. Read more about Nexen’s Top Employer scorecard.

“This external assessment is an excellent reminder that many of our programs and initiatives may seem routine for us, but they are not the standard in Canada.” says Catherine. “This must also be balanced with knowing that there is always room for improvement as other assessments, such as the annual Hewitt survey, shows us.”

Canada’s Top 100 Employers is one of many ways Nexen is assessed as an organization. In the past Nexen has been recognized as a: Alberta Top 100 Employer, Top Diversity Employer, Top 50 Employer in Canada, and has been ranked as a Top 30 Employer for Health and Pension Plans in Canada.
