Catherine Hughes

Catherine Hughes joined Nexen in September 2009, bringing more than 25 years of industry experience to our company. Prior to joining Nexen, she was with Husky Oil in the position of Vice President Oil Sands following an assignment as Vice President, Exploration and Production Services. Prior to this, Catherine spent many years with Schlumberger, in key positions in various countries such as Italy, Nigeria, Scotland and France followed by five years as President of Schlumberger Canada Ltd., based in Calgary.
Catherine is a Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon in France. Catherine’s contribution to the energy sector and to business in general has been recognized through a number of awards including the Key Women in Energy Americas award in 2003 and 2004, the Key Women in Energy Global award in 2004 and the Consumer’s Choice Business Woman of the Year Award for 2003.
