Nexen’s outstanding safety record in the Gulf of Mexico was recognized by the U.S. Minerals Management Service (MMS). The 2004 Safety Award for Excellence was presented at the MMS annual industry awards ceremony on April 26, 2005.

This award was created in 1983 to honour excellent safety practices by offshore oil and gas operators and contractors.

“The companies and individuals honoured today should be proud of earning these prestigious awards,” said MMS director Johnnie Burton at the award ceremony. “The recipients have been exemplary in helping the MMS balance the critical search for offshore energy and mineral resources with safe offshore operations.”
