Charlie is a U of C alumnus and has been involved on campus in a variety of roles, including serving as a volunteer member of the Board of Governors. The university decided to award the honourary degree because of his 'accomplishments, passion for education, generosity and community contributions which have made a difference to the university and to the lives of many.'
