The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology -- based in Calgary -- has selected Nexen as the recipient of its 2005 President's Partnership Award. The award is presented annually to a SAIT partner to recognize and celebrate an outstanding advocate and champion of the Polytechnic. Nexen and SAIT have enjoyed a relationship for more than 15 years. We have supported the institution's Aboriginal education programs and provided $3 million in scholarship funding to students from Yemen who attend SAIT.
"Nexen's commitment to the environment and its strong focus on people and the future make the company a clear choice for the 2005 award," stated the institution in its alumni newsletter.
Previous recipients include TransAlta Corporation, the Calgary Motor Dealers Association and EnCana. SAIT President and CEO Irene Lewis presented the award to our President and CEO Charlie Fischer at a reception on Nov. 7.
