The results are in from Calgary and Dallas with impressive employee contributions to this year’s United Way campaigns.

In Dallas, employees raised $36,000 which was matched by Nexen for a total donation of just over $75,000.

In Calgary, a contribution of $1,306,237, including matching funds from Nexen, went to support the United Way. This is an increase over the $1.1 million raised in 2006. In addition, the campaign, headed by Kelly Perkins, had a participation rate of 58 per cent.

“As Calgarians, we want to work in a city with a healthy environment, a solid social services network, outstanding health care and opportunities for recreation,” Nexen CEO and President Charlie Fischer said at the United Way wrap up event Monday. “To achieve this vision we need to work together, show compassion for those in need and be prepared to open both our hearts and our wallets. These are things Nexen employees have demonstrated by supporting this year’s campaign and providing avenues of help to those who need it.”

Thank you to all employees for doing a wonderful job supporting this important organization.
