Nexen captured two awards – Excellence for Electronic Disclosure and honourable mention for Excellence in Corporate Governance Disclosure – at the 2007 Corporate Reporting Awards presented by Canada’s Chartered Accountants.

Kevin Dancey, President and CEO, Canadian Institute of Chartered Accounts presented Rick Beingessner, Nexen’s vice president and general counsel corporate, and Sylvia Groves, manager corporate secretarial, with the awards at the annual event, held Dec. 5 in Toronto.

The judges noted the primary reason for Nexen’s win was its corporate website.

“Nexen uses its website as a powerful tool to engage the reader and convey the company’s commitment to good governance and integrity,” said the judges. “The website has great context and strategy and does an excellent job including all important content and doing so in an intuitive, user-friendly way.”

The Corporate Reporting Awards provide a forum to showcase the efforts of those responsible for excellence in corporate reporting. This prestigious awards program honours the best corporate reporting models in Canada.
