At Nexen, we've created a system to manage our HSE & SR (Health, Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility) performance.  It includes an HSE & SR Committee of the Board of Directors, a Senior Executive HSE & SR Committee and a management and staff group that implement, steward and report on our HSE & SR performance.

HSE & SR Board Committee
This committee is made up of six directors, five of whom are independent.  The committee oversees the development and implementation of HSE & SR management systems to ensure Nexen remains on the leading edge of best practices. Read the committee mandate ( 2pg, 51KB).

Senior Executive HSE & SR Committee
This committee consists of 16 executives who review HSE & SR issues, safety and environmental performance, security issues, corporate HSE & SR policies, relevant public policy and the annual Sustainability Report. Read the committee mandate ( 2 pg, 20 KB).
