In early January 2010, a copy of our Integrity Guide (PDF 9.8MB) was provided to Nexen employees and contractors. The guide replaced our former Ethics Policy and is a more user-friendly resource providing clear explanations for acceptable business behavior at Nexen.
The Integrity Guide is organized around four key sections: Respecting Each Other; Working Professionally; Looking After Our Business and Our Shared Future; and Managing Our Relationships. What sets the guide apart is a series of compelling real-life questions raised by employees, including answers explaining the appropriate course of action that should be taken. In addition, anecdotal stories that reinforce the reality of everyday ethical dilemmas are provided.
The entire document is presented in simple, easy-to-read language. We believe our Integrity Guide will help increase the baseline level of knowledge about integrity and compliance across the company. We also believe it will help encourage employees to be more comfortable speaking up about business practices that may be of concern.
