Nexen employees become a human canvas for the 2012 United Way Campaign kickoff in Calgary.

On September 27, more than 300 Nexen employees and contractors joined in the fun to celebrate Nexen’s United Way Campaign kickoff in Calgary. This year’s three week campaign officially started with Nexen employees becoming a human canvas for professional artists to transform into a living, urban mural, meant to promote the strong, vibrant city that Calgary is. Nexen’s United Way campaign slogan for this year is “Tag! You’re It!” which is meant to encourage employees to donate to the local charity, inspire others to be ‘it’ and in turn, do their part to help make this city a better place for our community.
“This year’s kickoff was a great event,” says Melanie Swenson, Nexen’s United Way Chair. “It’s inspiring to see so much support and enthusiasm within our company for United Way. I want to thank everyone who came out and made the event such a success!”
Last year’s campaign was a huge success in increasing engagement and awareness about United Way. Nexen also raised a total of CDN $1.48 million through employee and corporate donations – the single largest community investment donation made to the Calgary and Area United Way, in the company’s history. This year we want our campaign to be just as successful, and we’ve set a goal to reach 70% company participation, up from 65% last year.
