A chapter of Nexen’s history ended on December 17, 2011 as our Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) on Block 14 (Masila) expired and we turned our production at the Block to another operator.

The conclusion of our PSA on Block 14 ends a relationship that began with a property evaluation in Yemen in January 1987 followed by first oil in Masila in September 1993. During that time, Nexen has produced more than one billion barrels of oil from the Masila block.

We continue to produce oil at Block 51 (East Al-Hajr) at about 5,000 barrels per day. The PSA at Block 51 expires in 2023.
