Nexen is proud to sponsor the first-ever Youth Program at the 19th World Petroleum Congress in Madrid, June 29 to July 3, 2008. The Congress, organized by The World Petroleum Council, provides a forum for industry, non-profit organizations and government to discuss issues and find solutions to worldwide energy challenges.

Our support of the Youth Program offers us a great deal of involvement in the Congress. We are the official host of the Youth Reception, Youth Centre and sponsors of a special session designed by members of the WPC Youth Committee.

Our involvement in the Congress starts at the top. Randy Gossen, Nexen’s Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility, has been president of the World Petroleum Council since 2005 and will continue in his role for the next three years.

Nexen employees are also taking part in the Congress as delegates and presenters (Nexen Schedule of Events). We see value in participating in initiatives that bring people together to share their opinions on the industry and their vision for its future.
